MARCY DENKER LANDSCAPE
design and consulting for sustainability
Design, plant, and build with the health of the land in mind.
My work for over thirty-five years as a designer and consultant includes residential, small commercial, institutional and municipal design and planning, focused on sustainability and finding ways to partner with nature as an ecological landscape designer.
- Master of Landscape Architecture, SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry
- Certified Landscape Designer, New York Botanical Garden
Sustainability Consulting
Since 2010 I have worked with local governments, municipal staff, and volunteers to incorporate sustainability, climate change, and green infrastructure planning into municipal operations and community life.
As Sustainability Coordinator for the Village of Nyack, I have created the Nyack2030 Climate Action Plan, the Nyack Climate Adaptation Plan, and coordinated many other projects, for which Nyack has earned Silver level certification in New York's Climate Smart Communities program.
Nyack Tree Committee Chair
As Chair of the Nyack Tree Committee since its founding in 2014, I have obtained grants for a complete inventory of public trees in the village and for professional maintenance on the large trees. I started the Nyack Tree Project for community forestry, with 400 trees planted by volunteers since 2016, using public and private funding.
